Leading Irish animation studio Pink Kong Studios has today announced that its original preschool series, ‘Urban Tails’, will be launching Season 2 on RTÉjr on 18th December 2023.
The series, which first aired in 2019, will be dropping another 26 x 2-minute episodes of awesome musical episodes. The series educates preschool children about the animals that live around urban environments the world over in a fun and entertaining way.
Urban Tails is expected to be a key programme in RTÉjr’s winter schedule and is a unique take on the urban animal kingdom. Each episode is a brand-new music video filled with funny and factual character-driven content, inspired by the classic hip-hop and RnB music videos of the 1990’s. The animal characters ooze attitude as sing and dance their way onto viewers screens. Through musical rhyme children find out what life is really like for the creatures living in and around our cities.
The second series of Urban Tails has been produced by Pink Kong Studios and is written by Aoífe Doyle & Kim Boland and directed by Aoífe Doyle. The show is funded from RTÉjr, Screen Ireland and Coimisiún na Meán. Season 2 is expected to bolster international sale by way of offering a 52-episode package, distributed by Monster Entertainment.
Commenting on the launch of the show, director and writer Aoife Doyle of Pink Kong Studios said; “We’re excited to launch a fresh batch of episodes in this super fun series! There’s a whole host of new unique characters and funky tracks for fans to fall in love with! From a slick Smooth Newt to a Laughing Hyena, there’s a track in there for everyone to enjoy.”

It’s such a unique animation as I’m not sure there are many shows that mash up educational nuggets with hip hop beats! There is no doubt, you’ll think about these tunes all the time!”.
The music for Urban Tails is composed by Emmy Award winning composers Rich Dickerson, and Fransisco Rios.

GLOWENA is coming to Kidscreen with Pink Kong Studios
Join Glowena the Night Sprite on her gentle twilight missions, as she uses her luminescent powers to help some of the magical residents of her moon-shaped Celtic Island.
Pink Kong Studios will be bringing GLOWENA and her magical powers to Kidscreen, San Diego. We are looking for co-producers and commissioners to join the us on this adventure!
Glowena is an atmospheric series designed to help kids relax and unwind while enjoying simple character-driven stories. This might be before bed but could also fit into a child’s routine at other stages of their day too…whenever it’s time to settle down.
26 x 11-minute episodes provide plenty of room for some quiet moments and soothing visual sequences alongside all the beats in an engaging and entertaining pre-school story.
Every night another gentle twilight adventure begins, as Glowena journeys through the island’s peaceful habitats to help a friend-in-need. With Cara and Mac in tow, she investigates whatever might be wrong and uses her light-controlling powers (and her calmness, creativity, and curiosity) to save the day.
After all that excitement…it’s time for everyone to get a good night’s sleep!
