Studio 9 are delighted to have won a commission from RTÉjr to produce a 2 minute short.  In total RTÉjr are commissioning 5 animations for young people based around their mental health and wellbeing.

The animation is called “Navigating the Rough Seas”.  The concept and script was developed between Studio 9, Saoirse Anton and RTÉjr and will be co-produced by Eimear O’Mahony.

The animation is set in a school yard, with the main character having a negative experience with their peers.  This leads them to enter the world of their imagination where they meet a one man band character who gives them some useful tips on how to help themselves feel better in difficult times!

Over the last 2 years Joe and John at Studio 9 have been learning to build and animate stop motion puppets, including completing the Stop motion 1 & 2 courses with Aardman Academy and being awarded the Concept and Innovation Development Award from Screen Ireland.

This will be their first full stop motion piece and will mark a significant milestone in the development of their studio.  The piece will be aired in October.
