Puffin Rock won two awards at Kidscreen Awards in Miami.

The series from Oscar-nominated Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon, Derry-based studio Dog Ears and global publisher Penguin took home the awards in the Programming – Preschool Category for Best New Series and Best Animated Series

The Kidscreen Awards single out and celebrate the year’s best work in kids television programming and broadcasting, as well as digital media.

The series is set on a beautiful island off the coast of Ireland. Oona is a charismatic and plucky young puffling, who along with her ever-curious little brother Baba, explores the diverse array of sea, sky, land and underground creatures. The show is narrated in English by Chris O’Dowd (Moone Boy, The IT Crowd).

Puffin Rock was financed by the Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Screen, RTÉ, Nickelodeon UK, HOP! and YLE. The series airs regularly on Nick Jr. UK. A second season is currently in production.
