Animation Ireland members, Turnip and Duck will be producing their first original series Critters.TV for RTÉjr in 2018, with support from the BAI and the Irish Film Board. The mixed-media series features animated Irish animals watching live action nature documentary footage and will be directed by Ian Benjamin Kenny. It is being produced in collaboration with their partners, Crossing The Line Films.
Turnip & Duck is an award-winning, Dublin-based production company producing a variety of work across TV, radio and digital platforms. Bringing together the producing and writing talents of Colm Tobin and Aidan O’Donovan, the company was established in 2016 to develop and produce original IP, with a particular focus on animation and off-kilter comedy for kids.
Previous work by Turnip and Duck includes Zoot & Friends, created by Adam Kavanagh and Gareth Lyons and was produced as part of the RTE Short Animations scheme; they are also the co-creators of the RTE/CBBC series Brain Freeze. Tobin and O’Donovan are currently in active development on a number of projects with Irish studios including Treehouse Republic, Studio Pow Wow and Dog Ears Ltd.
As well as their own projects, Turnip & Duck offer services to the wider animation and production sector in Ireland and beyond with expertise in comedy writing, producing and VO directing.
