Preparations are well underway for Animation Dingle 2018!

Animation Dingle 2017 was a huge success, we hope you’ll all agree. Fun times were had, networking was done and we may have even learnt a thing or two from our fabulous panels and keynotes.

At Animation Dingle 2018, professionals and students alike will be welcomed to the magical town of Dingle on the 23rd and 24th of March to partake in the festival that has become an annual event for many in the industry. There will be even more fun, more networking and more incredible guests with wise words to impart.

The festival team, headed by John Rice (JAM Media) and Maurice Galway (Dingle IFF), are hard at work securing a fantastic line-up of keynote speakers, guests and screenings of features, professional shorts and student shorts for the festival weekend.

Short animated films, both student and professional, can be submitted on our FilmFreeway page. The Student Animation Awards are a staple event of Animation Dingle; we love to highlight the talent amongst students and reward them for their hard work. Submissions for the shorts programmes and Student Animation Awards are open until the 18th of December 2017.

Our YAOTY Award also takes place again in 2018, which will be sponsored by Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD. This award is aimed at 4th, 5th and 6th year secondary school students in Ireland and Yr11, Yr12 and 6th Form secondary school students in Northern Ireland. We want to encourage people to get involved with animation earlier, so we’re spotlighting the talent amongst the young Irish population. The prize for the winner is a 2 week work placement in JAM Media and an award hand-made by Dingle jeweller Brian de Staic. Submissions for the YAOTY award are open until the 31st of January 2018. You can submit on our FilmFreeway page here.

Festival passes for Animation Dingle 2018 will go on sale on the week of 20/11/2017. Keep up to date with all festival announcements on our website, Facebook and Twitter.
