Giant Animation are delighted to announce the commencement of production on The Overcoat, a 26 minute animated film featuring the voice talents of Cillian Murphy and Alfred Molina. The supporting voice cast includes Devorah Dailey, Mikel Murfi, Michael McElhatton, Sam McGovern and Fiona O’Shaughnessy.

Written for the screen by Hugh O’Conor, the film is an adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s classic short story about an office worker (Cillian Murphy) who saves all his money to buy a new coat in time for Christmas, only to have fate take a ghostly hand.

The film will combine both traditional and modern animation techniques to bring the much-loved story and characters to life.

Supported by The Irish Film Board (Bord Scannán na hÉireann), RTÉ and the Estonian Film Institute, The Overcoat is a co-production between Giant Animation in Ireland and A Film Estonia.

Executive Producer: Hugh O’Conor
Directors: Sean Mullen & Meelis Arulepp
Producers: Méabh Tammemägi (Ireland) & Kristel Tõldsepp (Estonia)
