Cardel, the Offaly based production company completed a festive stop motion animation which will be broadcast on RTÉjr and RTÉ2 over Christmas.
Günter’ Falls in Love’ tells the tale of a pudgy family pug who falls madly in love with an inanimate object one Christmas day. The film is directed by BAFTA nominated Josephine Lohoar Self with original music composed by Pablo Scopinaro. The film crew worked hard to craft a gorgeously hand-made, heart warming tale in time for RTÉ audiences this Christmas.

Synopsis
It’s Christmas Day and Günter, a pudgy pug watches from his dog bed as his human family unwrap their presents. When an uninterested child throws an old hand-me-down family TOY to the side, Günter becomes besotted.

Josephine Lohoar Self is a BAFTA nominated Writer, Director & Animator working predominantly in stop motion animation. Josephine’s most recent film ‘The Fabric of You’ won Best Animated Short at Palm Springs ShortFest while being nominated for a Scottish BAFTA. It received a Special Mention during its premiere at The Edinburgh International Film Festival (2019) and has gone on to play at Oscar Qualifying festivals around the world. She was selected as a Berlinale Talent at the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival and is currently developing her next stop motion animated film with support from the British Film Institute.
