Little Moon’s brand new series Fia’s Fairies premiered October 31st on RTEjr

Eagerly-anticipated first season of CG preschool series aims to introduce children (ages 3-7) and their families to the Irish language

Fia’s Fairies made its broadcasting debut on RTEjr with a spooktacular Halloween episode on October 31st. New episodes will then be presented each week, airing weekdays on RTEJr at 08.30, 12.40 and 17.10 and streaming on the RTE Player.

Every day, Fia and her best friend Ameer take a journey to Fairy Island where they learn the
enchanting Irish language through exciting adventures with a pair of fairies, Bláithín and Cuán, and all their magical friends. As well as teaching Fia and Ameer new words as gaeilge, the fairies also teach them about kindness, acceptance, and bravery – all whilst bringing our young audience along for the fun!

“We’ve been creating Fia’s Fairies together for over three years at Little Moon Animation.
Every day has been a labour of love to bring the joy of animation, storytelling and language
together in a way that will capture the hearts and imaginations of young children,” said
Eoghan Garvey, Director of the series. “We love our cast and crew and are so proud that our hard work is about to be welcomed and loved by families all around Ireland this autumn.”

“Fia’s Fairies is an exciting new show about friendship and adventure but with an
entertaining educational core. We want our audience and their families to become more
autonomous and motivated language learners through these playful stories and friendly
characters,” said Vanessa Robinson, Creative Producer of the series. “By introducing Irish to
preschool audiences through the magic of Fairy Island, we’re thrilled to support children and
their families on their language learning journeys in a way that doesn’t even feel like
learning.”

Created by Little Moon Animation, the series (26 x 5 minute episodes) aims to introduce
children to the Irish language. At the end of every episode, children will be encouraged to
understand, repeat and use new words and common phrases as gaeilge. The series stars
Alisha Weir, Elsie Akinduko, Gráinne Bleasdale and Doireann Ní Chorragáin. The first half of
Season One began broadcasting from October 31st and the second half of Season One will
be available from February 2023.

To further promote the Irish language, learning resources will be made available through a
dedicated website, www.fiasfairies.com, and various social media channels such as TikTok,
Instagram and Facebook, from November 2023.

Fia’s Fairies is produced with the support of Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland, RTEJr, the
Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and the incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by
the Government of Ireland.
