This September Turnip & Duck, the Dublin-based production company bringing together the writing, producing and directing talents of Aidan O’Donovan and Colm Tobin, will bring two original IPs to Cartoon Forum, the annual animation industry pitching event in Toulouse.
The first is Critters TV, a 52 x 11’ comedy series aimed at a co-viewing, family audience which fuses 2D character animation with stunning live-action nature documentary footage.
At the same event, co-producers Treehouse Republic will lead the pitching of Atom Town, a 26 x 3’ chemistry primer for pre-schoolers created by Turnip & Duck, and developed by both companies with support from Screen Ireland. Atom Town will introduce kids to the magic of chemistry – through story, humor, dazzling animation, and unforgettable characters.
Turnip & Duck is currently in production on the first 15-episode run of the aforementioned Critters TV for RTÉjr in association with the Broadcasting Authority Of Ireland, Screen Ireland, with the support of investment incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by the Government of Ireland.
The series will air on RTÉjr from October 28th 2019, with two episodes stripped back-to-back from 6pm across the mid-term break schedule – a treat for nature and comedy loving kids (and adults!) across Ireland!
As a writing and development team, Colm and Aidan have also been busy working with a number of studios as script writers and originators including Dog Ears and Giant Animation, and the duo is represented by Jean Kitson of London-based talent agency Kitson Press for their service work.
