Meet the native wild animals of Ireland as you’ve never seen them before – at home, with their feet up, watching wildlife documentaries on TV. This is the premise behind Critters TV, Turnip & Duck’s new series currently in production and due for broadcast on RTÉjr in late 2019.
The 15 x 11′ comedy series for 4-8 year-olds fuses 2D character animation with stunning live-action nature documentary footage, provided by Dublin’s award-winning Crossing The Line Films. This educational comedy sketch show is brought to you by Aidan O’Donovan, Com Tobin and Ian ‘Benjamin’ Kenny, the creative team behind the hit RTÉ/CBBC series Brain Freeze, which has been sold worldwide by Aardman Rights.
2D animation on Critters TV will be produced by Lindsey Adams for Daily Madness Productions, and all post-production will be handled by Gorilla Post. The series is funded by RTÉjr, the Broadcasting Authority Of Ireland and Screen Ireland, with the support of investment incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by the Government of Ireland. “Kids love to be surprised! Critters TV flips the conventions in a way that will surprise and delight young audiences. It’s wildlife but not as we know it.” – Pauline Macnamara, Executive Producer for RTÉjr.
