Turnip + Duck’s flagship show Critters TV has been shortlisted for an award at the Prix Jeunesse International Festival 2022. The animated series, which follows a group of wild animals native to Ireland as they watch nature documentaries on TV, has been selected in the Up To 6 Years Non-Fiction category.
Prix Jeunesse is the oldest children and youth television festival in the world and honours the best of the best in children’s television every two years.
Commenting on the nomination, series producer & co-creator Colm Tobin said:
“We’re so delighted that the entire production team on Critters TV has been honoured by this selection for the Prix Jeunesse, the oldest and arguably the most prestigious festival in the kids’ content calendar. Turnip + Duck was founded with the mission to create innovative, world-class shows in Ireland built to travel the world. We are delighted by this seal of approval from our international peers.”
The nomination comes at a time of growth for Turnip + Duck, with the company looking to hire a new Head of Content in the coming months. Critters TV director and co-creator Aidan O’Donovan said:
“Creating and producing innovative original formats like Critters TV takes a lot of patience and skill. As an IP development focused company, it’s essential that we build the strongest core team possible to meet those challenges, and we’re very excited about finding the right person to join us as we take the next steps on our journey.”
The Prix Jeunesse International awards will take place from the 10 – 15 June 2022 in Munich, Germany.
