Pink Kong Studios short film “The Dead Hands of Dublin” was the winner of “Best Sound Design” at this year’s (virtual) Irish Animation Awards. The sound design and mix on animated short was carried out by the wonderfully talented Francisco Rios and Mark Fitzpatrick from our post house partners, Gorilla Post Productions. Along with this “The Dead Hands of Dublin” recently won “Best Animated Short” at the Kinsale Shark Awards and was also nominated for “Best Animation” at the same event.
Recent nominations for the film included the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs) for “Best Short Animation” and the inaugural RTS Ireland Television Awards for “Best Animation”.
“The Dead Hands of Dublin” also won “Best Sound” at The British Animation Film Festival and was nominated for “Best Short”. The film also came home with “Best Animated Short” and “Best Sound” as well as nominations for “Best Director” and “Best Music” at the Independent Horror Film Festival last month! To cap it off we won “Short Animation Winner” at the Monsterflix Awards.
It has been a glorious year for the film with over 20 accolades, screenings in over 50 international film festivals and more to be announced.
“The Dead Hands of Dublin” is Pink Kong Studios third cinematic release of an animated short film. Directed by Leo Crowley (first time cinematic director) and produced by Niamh Herrity. The film is narrated by Tony Award Winner Jim Norton and the score was composed by Daragh Black Hynes.
