Irish Animation Awards Announce a NEW category for “Best Irish Feature & Special”

This year we see the second Irish Animation Awards taking place on Saturday 25th March 2017 at the Dingle Skelligs Hotel in Dingle. With the growing success of animation throughout the international arena the Irish Animation Awards are delighted to announce the introduction of a new category for “Best Irish Feature & Special”.

The Irish Animation Awards is kindly sponsored by Irish Film Board and RTÉ, it is Animation Irelands biennial awards ceremony to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding creative talent we have within the Irish Animation, VFX and gaming industries. The introduction of this new category will bring the number of awards to 15 categories overall.

“Bord Scannan na hEireann/the Irish Film Board is delighted to support the Irish Animation Awards at Animation Dingle, honouring the best of Irish talent. The Irish animation sector is going from strength to strength and we are very proud to be able to support and invest in Irish animation producers, writers and director creating original animation content.” James Hickey, CEO, Irish Film Board.

We look forward to welcoming you to Dingle in 2017 for what promises to be a wonderful evening full of great Irish talent.  Winners of each category will receive a statuette designed by animator, film maker and teacher Eimhin McNamara. The statuette resembles a Phenakistoscope which was an early animation device used to create an illusion of motion.
