Dagda’s Harp, nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 20th Irish Film & Television Academy Awards 2023. The short stop motion animation was created as part of A Breath of Fresh Scare, an animated series for Young People celebrating Halloween.

Dagda’s Harp mashes up elements of folklore and modern inner city life to one hell of a funky soundtrack. Plus there’s narration by Jordan Kelly aka the musician Strange Boy. The creator Daniel Quirke is a director who specialises in stop motion and mixed media animation techniques. His film The Song of A Lost Boy, was nominated for 2021’s Best Short Animation BAFTA along with Dagda’s Harp winning Best Animation at the Royal Television Society Awards 2022.

The Presenter, a short animated stop motion film, written and directed by IFTA & BAFTA nominated director Josephine Lohoar Self is nominated for Best Animation at the Royal Television Society Awards 2023 and is officially selected for the Oscar qualifying short film festivals Dingle Animation Festival and the ShortFest Aspen Film Festival 2023.
The Presenter is set within a bustling news channel where Niamh, a shy 20-something-year-old production assistant tries her best to fulfill the demands of the job. But when a news anchor beckons her over to the news desk, Niamh suddenly finds herself presenting the evening news. Her pleas fall on deaf ears, and we soon find out that things aren’t quite what they seem.
Key voice actors include actress Alison Oliver known for Conversations with Friends.
The Presenter will participate in the Short Film Corner | Rendez-vous Industry (from Sunday, May 21 to Wednesday, May 24) at the Cannes Film Festival 2023.
