CCIS launch Lunch and Learn Programme for the Legal Aspects of Animation

Following the success of the Freelancers Guide to Tax, Animation Ireland, in partnership with Cultural and Creative Industries Skillnet and Coimisiún na Meán, is delighted to announce a new Lunch and Learn Programme. This is a monthly programme held with legal experts Catherine Keane from Cartoon Saloon and Robert Grimes from Lighthouse Studios who will enlighten and inform attendees on all things legal.

We will tease out legal issues specific to the animation process and explore legal rights, obligations and best practices in relation to, copyright, funding, s481 and other areas of interest to the creative sector..

This series of 45 minute lunchtime workshops will be held online, once every month from May to October at 1pm with time for questions afterwards. Dates for each session will be announced the month before and there is no obligation to attend all the sessions.

The first workshop on Intellectual Property will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024 at 1pm.

Please note that each workshop is eligible for 1 Law Society CPD Point, with the potential of 6 points for those who attend all workshops. 

These workshops will be developed and delivered by legal experts and will be relevant to almost everyone engaged in animation. Focus will be on the following themes:

  • 1. Intellectual Property Law
  • 2. Section 481
  • 3. International Co-production considerations
  • 4. Funding agencies
  • 5. Production Legal
  • 6. Music and talent
