Brown Bag Films has been shortlisted for the Allianz Business to Arts Awards for the Judges’ Special Recognition Award for Portfolio of Investment category with our friend’s Children’s Books Ireland for Bookbag!
‘Bookbag’, a children’s book gifting initiative in partnership with former Laureate na nÓg Niamh Sharkey and Children’s Books Ireland, saw it’s 5th year rolling out in March of this year at Our Lady Immaculate SNS! Aimed at DEIS schools, where free books can be most needed, the Bookbag project gifts every child in chosen schools with a book to take home and keep.
The 2019 Allianz Business to Arts Awards will be presented on September 3rd in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. The awards recognise businesses, artists and art organisations that develop creative partnerships, bringing art into the workplace to build relationships that benefit communities across Ireland.

Bookbag is a joint initiative of Brown Bag Films and Children’s Books Ireland delivered by Children’s Books Ireland.
Bookbag was initiated by picture book-maker Niamh Sharkey during her term as Laureate na nÓg (2012–2014). Niamh campaigned throughout her tenure for a universal book-gifting scheme, which would ensure that every baby born in Ireland receives the gift of a book in their first year of life.
