As we look forward to a new season of courses and events, Animation Skillnet will continue to support studios, free-lancers, new entrants and individual professionals completely online for the time being.
We had a busy summer of online courses, responding to the immediate training needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic with short workshops and courses such as “Well-being for the Remote Worker”, “How to Successfully Manage Creative Teams Remotely” and “Business Continuity: Managing employees returning to work after COVID19 and retention strategies whilst out”. We are also proud to continue offering the “COVID-19Return to Work Training for the AV sector” and the “COVID-19 Compliance Officer Training for the AV Sector”, both developed and offered in partnership with Screen Skills Ireland and the Skillnet audio-visual networks (Screen Skillnet, Learning Waves Skillnet, Gréasán na Meán Skillnet and Immersive Technologies Skillnet).
But our focus was not only on the pandemic, and we continued to offer technical, artistic and management skills courses, working with our dedicated tutors to deliver these online:
“Animating and Rigging in Toon Boom”, “Animating Walks & Runs in Maya”, “Creature Creation for CG Production”, Leading Strategic Innovation”, “IP Development for Animation”, and many more public and in-company training.
We did not forget about recent graduates and how difficult it must have been to finish their last year away from their classmates, friends and teachers: we redesigned our 2D and 3D Bootcamps with this in mind, making sure that the usual topics covered were also complemented by further preparation into remote working. This type of preparation has also been applied to help our new group of Trainees, who are starting this week on our three-month Animation, Games and VFX Traineeship programme with the following studios:
Algorithm: Anna Lawlor
Cartoon Saloon: Chrissie Hughes, Mikai Geronimo, Jakub Bednarz and Giorgia McKenna
Giant: Alicia Ruiz de Amoraga Gil and Neslihan Ates Koken
Lighthouse Studios: Eoin McLoughlin, Polly Holland and Adam Powell
Piranha Bar: Daniel McNicholl and Iobhar Stokes
StoryToys – Touchpress: Amie O’Mahony
Vela Games: Patrick Naughton
Congratulations and welcome to all!
Last but not least, we are also delighted to extend this warm welcome to our new colleagues: Susan Talbot is the Manager for our new sister Network, Immersive Technologies Skillnet and Daragh Goan is the Administrator across our three Networks, Animation Skillnet, Screen Skillnet and Immersive Technologies Skillnet.
Our growing team is looking forward to continuing to work together, helping companies and independent professionals on their skills development journeys.
Stay safe!
