Sky Kids have commissioned 20 x 10 minute episodes of Wildseed’s school-based animation series ‘Not The End Of The World’ based upon the multi-award winning graduation film of the same name by UK creator and series director Jack Bennett. The series has now been renamed “Dodo” and will commence broadcast.
The series follows the adventures of Joe Connolly (11) in his first year at secondary school somewhere in the UK. Each episode sets up some sort of catastrophe that Joe firmly believes is the end of the world for him but which of course, is nothing of the sort. It’s mostly a show about embarrassment.
Wildseed Managing Director Miles Bullough said ‘Jack showed us his graduation film when he was working with us as an animator on one of our shorts series and we fell in love with the film immediately. We were very fortunate that one of the first people we shared it with was Lucy Murphy at Sky who shared our vision of the show’s huge potential and came on board immediately.
Lucy Murphy, Director of Kids Content from Sky said: Jack’s film is distinctive, funny, naughty and has great heart, which makes it perfect for older kids and families to enjoy together. We’re delighted to commission and showcase new young talent in a series that is so relevant and entertaining for UK kids.
Dodo perfectly encapsulates Wildseed Studios’ ethos of mentoring the next generation of creative talent and nurturing their voice to produce unique and distinctive programming capable of connecting with on-demand audiences.
Dodo is being produced by Helen Stern (Gumball). Creator Jack Bennett is directing, with the support of Ben Ward (Horrible Histories) on scripting, with Executive guidance being provided by Wildseed Head of Kids and Animation Sarah Mattingley.
Wildseed Studios is producing the series in association with Birkdale Film and Television with Toonz Media Group in India and Telegael in Ireland both providing production services for the series.
CAKE are representing the series for International Sales which is due for delivery by February 2021.
