Turnip + Duck recognised by the National Council of the Blind Ireland for their exceptional contribution to the vision-impaired community.
On November 9th 2022, Turnip + Duck received The Society Award at the NCBI’s Vision Awards ceremony held at the Iveagh Gardens Hotel in recognition of their podcast series Maddie + Triggs. The podcast features the musical adventures of Maddie (7) who happens to be vision impaired, and her doggy best friend Triggs.
The Society Award recognises individuals and organisations engaged in health, social care, the arts, cultural and sporting arena and who have pioneered excellence in the provision of care or inclusion for people with vision impairment. Turnip + Duck worked closely with the NCBI Children and Young Persons services team for the development of Maddie + Triggs, where they cast the amazing Bonnie O’Meara (pictured) who plays the lead character of Maddie.
Commenting on the award win, series producer & co-creator Colm Tobin said:
“We are so honoured to receive this award and we hope Turnip + Duck can continue
to play a role in contributing to a broader push to reframe the conversation around
disability, by creating world-class content that puts diverse and underrepresented
voices front and centre.”

“Inclusion is a word that we hear quite a lot of these days but meaningful inclusion
actively seeks solutions to barriers and sends a powerful message to children with sight
loss that opportunities for full participation in society exist. So we absolutely commend
Turnip + Duck for their inclusive and positive approach and look forward to more exciting
adventures for Maddie + Triggs!”
Turnip + Duck is currently in advanced negotiations with a number of international buyers to fund a 52 x 7’ 2D-animated TV series of Maddie + Triggs which they hope will go into production in 2023.
