The (five) National Talent Academies were established in 2021 by Screen Ireland/ Fís Éireann to develop a highly skilled and diverse talent and crew base throughout the regions in Ireland.
The initiative is the result of additional stimulus investment provided by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, and forms part of a wider strategy to support skills development across all regions of Ireland, with a particular focus on diversity and inclusion.
The National Talent Academy for Animation is managed by Animation Ireland, the National Talent Academy for Film & Television is managed by Ardán, and the three regional Crew Academies are currently managed by the Atlantic Academy (Danú Media) in Galway, Film in Limerick in Limerick, and Clermont Enterprise Hub in Wicklow.
The National Talent Academy for Animation (NTAA) supports aspiring artists, animators, directors, and producers with courses, programmes, and career opportunities. The NTAA runs various events across all regions in Ireland including Studio Fairs, Industry Days and online masterclasses. It is all about talented individuals providing concrete ways to support you in building a career in the Animation industries.
The NTAA also runs The First Credit Film Scheme and The Short Film Fund providing first time directors and producers with the opportunity to make their own fully funded short from concept to screening at festivals.
Whatever stage you are at in your journey, the National Talent Academy is creating programmes and opportunities for new, emerging, and established talent, to support you both in beginning and developing your career into the long-term. These programmes include masterclasses, mentorships, shadowing and placement opportunities, amongst others.
The National Talent Academy for Animation is managed by Animation Ireland on behalf of Screen Ireland.
