Throughout 2022, participants from Ireland attended various phases of the programme “Pitching your Animation Project at Festivals and Markets”. Organised by Animation Skillnet, Animation Ireland and Ardán, this training project was supported by Screen Ireland and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
The programme started with three webinars:
- Workshop 1: 7th of June – Preparing for Markets with Leanne Preston
- Workshop 2: 8th of June – The Do’s and Don’ts of Pitching at Markets from an Irish Perspective with Lindsey Adams
- Workshop 3: 9th of June – IP: Choosing The Right Broadcast Path with Danielle Davies
This was followed by a panel talk at the Galway Film Fleadh in July, with Vanessa Robinson of Little Moon Animation, Nicky Gogan from Piranha Bar, Stuart Forrest of Triggerfish Animation and Ronan McCabe CEO of Animation Ireland moderated.
Over the summer, 10 selected participants and their projects got selected to work on their pitches with mentors from the Animation industry. The sessions took place both online and in person, in some cases at markets or festivals, with the following professionals:
- Andrew Kavanagh – Kavaleer
- Colm Tobin – Turnip & Duck
- Dale Robinson – Treehouse Republic
- Danielle Davies – Meon Media
- Deirdre Barry – NTAA / Avalon Films
- Gary Timpson – Kavaleer
- Ronan McCabe – Animation Ireland
- Vanessa Robinson – Little Moon Animation
Last Tuesday 6th of December, the programme culminated with an exciting event at the Brooks Hotel in Dublin, where 7 participants -selected amongst the mentees and the attendees of the initial workshops- got the opportunity to try out their pitch in front of a small audience and a panel of professionals: Andrew Kavanagh from Kavaleer, Eimear O’Mahony from RTE and Shannon George from Daily Madness kindly gave their time, feedback and advice on the night.
We wish the pitchers the very best with their exciting projects in the coming months!
