Studio Meala are delighted to announce the release of their two latest productions “Mkhuzi:
The Spirit Racer” and “Hatima” as part of the “Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire” anthology produced by Triggerfish Animation and Disney+.
Featuring stories from creators hailing from Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe, “Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire” promises to take viewers on an unforgettable ride into Africa’s future, presenting visions of the continent as never before seen. The action-packed animated anthology draws on the continent’s rich and diverse histories and cultures to present 10 sci-fi and fantasy stories featuring bold and brave new worlds of advanced technology, aliens, spirits, and monsters.
The 10 films are: “Stardust“ (Ahmed Teilab, Egypt), “Mkhuzi: The Spirit Racer“ (Simangaliso “Panda” Sibaya and Malcolm Wopé, South Africa), “Hatima“ (Terence Maluleke and Isaac Mogajane, South Africa), “Enkai“ (Ng’endo Mukii, Kenya), “Moremi“ (Shofela Coker, Nigeria), “Surf Sangoma“ (Nthato Mokgata and Catherine Green, South Africa), “Mukudzei“ (Pious Nyenyewa and Tafadzwa Hove, Zimbabwe), “First Totem Problems“ (Tshepo Moche, South Africa), “Herderboy“ (Raymond Malinga, Uganda) and “You Give Me Heart“ (Lesego Vorster, South Africa). “Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire” is executive produced by Peter Ramsey (co-director of the Oscar®-winning “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse”), alongside Tendayi Nyeke and Anthony Silverston from Triggerfish, the lead studio on this anthology and is available to stream worldwide on Disney+
Doodle Girl Begins Production
Studio Meala is thrilled to announce that it’s first IP is going into production! “Doodle Girl” is a hand-drawn animated 26 episodes x 7 minutes pre-school series exploring an imaginative world inside a sketchbook being co-produced with ALT Animation (https://www.altanimation.com/) and initial distribution on RTE. Although a children’s series, the aim is to ultimately make a show that makes everyone laugh, so older viewers are definitely going to get a kick out of it too. Currently, Scripts and
Storyboards are in production, with Animation kicking off soon.

Space Aged Is Going To Cartoon Forum
Studio Meala is very excited to announce their return to Cartoon Forum! “Space Aged” is a sci-fi comedy series created by Ruth Harbison, who has worked with Studio Meala on a number of productions as an Animator. Congratulations to Ruth and all the team who have helped get Space Aged to this point.
