Lighthouse Studios are now on the hunt for experienced FX Artists who will join the FX team in Kilkenny and contribute to the production, 16+ show. The dates you will be required is from 8th of June 2026 and the term of this contract will be until 23rd of October 2026.

About the role
As a 2D FX Artist, you will create high-quality visual effects such as fire, dust, water, magical elements, and environmental FX for animated productions. Working in Toon Boom Harmony, you will use hand-drawn and technical techniques to support storytelling and visual quality in a fast-paced production environment.

What you’ll be doing
- Create and animate high-quality FX in Toon Boom Harmony using hand-drawn techniques and Harmony’s technical features.
- Design, build, and reuse FX assets where appropriate.
- Work on assigned shots while following department workflows, processes, and naming conventions.
- Maintain and organise your work and files in line with studio standards and production requirements.
- Apply creative and technical problem-solving to achieve desired visual results.
- Collaborate with the FX Lead, Supervisors, and Production team to meet creative and technical goals.
- Communicate progress and any challenges clearly and professionally.
- Ensure work meets quality standards and production deadlines.
The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.
What Lighthouse are looking for
- Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work within established production schedules and deadlines.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a studio setting using Toon Boom Harmony.
- Strong understanding of classical animation principles and FX animation.
- Solid drawing and visual design skills.
- Confidence in creative and technical problem-solving.
- Clear, professional communication skills.
- Positive, collaborative attitude and team-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a production pipeline.
