About the role
The primary role of the Episodic Director is to lead the story and creative visuals across all departments while considering the creator/client requirements of the show. The Director must ensure the show is executed thoroughly and to the highest standard, from early development through to final delivery, while informing and adhering to budgets and schedules.
Skills & Other Requirements
Key Responsibilities 
  • Partner with the Creative Director/Supervising Director in all creative aspects and all phases of the production to achieve the overall completion of the show.
  • Prepare script notes for the storyboard department.
  • Where applicable, review designs and provide story-specific feedback.
  • Prepare/review rough animatic in preparation for the Creative Directors’/Supervising Director’s review.
  • Review clean storyboards and approve for delivery.
  • Work with the Creative Director/Supervising Director to prepare the animatic for delivery to the client and prepare for animation.
  • Work closely with the technical team and Art Director to troubleshoot the episodes.
  • Review episodic animation passes and provide feedback for the Animation Director.
  • Review offlines and generate edit and retake notes; prepare the episode for delivery to the client.
  • Prepare responses to client feedback, create a list of agreed/acceptable retakes, and lock the episode to time.
  • Approve retakes for the final episode.
  • As a senior member of the production team, you share responsibility for the crew who report and work directly under you in the following areas:
  • Provide strong leadership.
  • Regularly monitor each individual to assess performance.
  • Document performance clearly and provide feedback to crew.
  • Build and maintain crew morale.
  • Set SMART goals/objectives to enable and ensure crew meet the expected standards of performance.
  • Check in on crew progress towards goals and objectives, and provide feedback on progress.
  • Working with the HR team, assist with crew development.
  • As part of your continuous development, you are expected to keep up to date with the latest initiatives and developments in your area of expertise/role, but not limited to, training, learning and development initiatives, and mentoring.
Any other duties company management may from time to time deem necessary and reasonably require.
What would we look for? 
  • At least 5 years of industry experience, preferably in animation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in film, art, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Capable of motivating and leading teams with enthusiasm.
  • Comfortable working under tight deadlines.
  • A good understanding of the technical challenges of animation.
  • Ability to establish priorities and multitask efficiently within a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
