About the role
The role of the Storyboard artist is to translate the script and the director’s vision into a series of panels of images to plan the shots and ensure continuity between them. You’ll use your experience in storytelling and cinematography to create engaging characters and clarity within the sequences and story points.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read through the script, do sketches and write notes to present to the Director/Art Director.
  • Discuss ideas with the Directors and follow their notes as required.
  • Ensure that all necessary materials are present before starting your sequence i.e., Art Director sketches, Concepts Prop and Character Design references.
  • Address any problems with the Director/Supervisor; ask necessary questions.
  • Consider assumptions and limitations that might be within a project’s specifications.
  • Plan out your work and schedule to ensure work is finished in a timely manner.
  • Communicate the progress of work to the Director/Storyboard Supervisor and to the appropriate production staff.
  • Ensure quality and style of show is consistently achieved in storyboard work.
  • Complete the first pass of the storyboard within clearly defined timeframes.
  • Clean up storyboard considering client and director’s notes.
  • Follow proper document management requirements (i.e., file naming and storage) according to the production’s guidelines.
  • Meet all deadlines as determined by the director or Storyboard Supervisor.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and pitches as needed.
  • Any other duties company management may deem necessary and reasonably require from time to time.
What would Boulder look for?
  • 3+ years of storyboard experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of storytelling in storyboard format.
  • Strong drawing skills – character posing and acting, also location layouts.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the style of the show.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn applicable design software and hardware (e.g., Storyboard Pro).
  • Ability to carry out re-takes on own storyboards.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • The ability to multitask is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
