RTEjr has announced 26 brand new episodes will begin airing in February 2025
Dublin, Ireland – October 12th 2023 – Building on its successful debut, Little Moon Animation
is pleased to announce the greenlight of the acclaimed Irish animated preschool series, Fia’s
Fairies, for its second season. The new season will comprise 26 fresh episodes, furthering
its mission to introduce and promote language learning for young global audiences. This will
bring the series total to 52×5’ episodes so far.
The popular series has been designed to introduce young viewers and their families to an
additional language, which for RTEjr is focused on learning Irish. Created by Little Moon
Animation, the series tells the story of Fia and her best friend Ameer as they go on
adventures to Fairy Island where they learn the enchanting Irish language from a pair of
fairies, Bláithín and Cuán, and all their magical friends.
Fia’s Fairies stars Dublin born Alisha Weir (Matilda The Musical – Netflix) alongside Elsie
Akinduko, Gráinne Bleasdale and Doireann Ní Chorragáin. Season One began broadcasting
on October 31st, 2022 and the multi-award nominated series recently took home the coveted
“Kids Choice Preschool Series” Award at the Irish Animation Awards 2023.
Head of Children’s & Young People’s Content at RTÉ, Suzanne Kelly, said of the greenlight
“I am thrilled that Fia’s Fairies Season 2 is returning to RTÉjr in 2025 and I know I’m not the only one that’s excited! This incredibly intuitive language series is back by popular demand for more fun and adventure in Fairy Island. Fia and her best friend Ameer, along with their fairy friends Bláithín and Cúán, have become firm favourites on RTÉjr with our preschool audience and parents and the clever storylines that embed language learning so seamlessly have delivered wonderful engagement across all of our platforms. We can’t wait!”
A key highlight of the forthcoming season is its introduction of new characters, locations and
will also feature unique musical episodes. Following the launch of the successful Fia’s
Fairies YouTube channel where familiar clips and songs in Irish have been viewed around
the world over 1,000,000 times, these brand new episodes will be crafted to resonate with
audiences of all ages, offering both entertainment and a deeper appreciation of the Irish
language.
Vanessa Robinson, Creator and Producer of the series.
“Our vision for Fia’s Fairies has always been clear: to present the Irish language in a modern, accessible, and engaging format and to encourage children to become more autonomous language learners. This second season, particularly with its musical focus for young audiences, reaffirms our commitment to this goal and we are looking forward to seeing our audience connect further with our show.”
Director Eoghan Garvey remarked, “The overwhelming response to our first season was a
testament to the series’ potential. We are excited to build on this momentum and deliver a
compelling second season that captivates both our dedicated fan base and new viewers.”
