TURNIP & DUCK is delighted to launch their new Critters TV short, TINY’S SANTA LIST this December, as part of RTÉjr’s Shorts Yule Love scheme. The 2-minute short follows the Christmas build-up of one very excited little owl and his giddy parents, as they tune in to watch some festive Christmas TV. Tiny’s Santa List TXs on RTÉjr on 14th December, and will go out regularly across RTÉ2 and RTÉjr thereafter.
Turnip & Duck are also delighted to announce that they will be going into production on a SECOND SERIES of CRITTERS TV in early 2021. With support from RTÉjr, the BAI, Screen Ireland and the s481 tax incentive, the series will see Turnip & Duck continuing their successful creative partnership with Daily Madness Productions and Crossing The Line Films. Delivery is due in Winter 2021, and will bring the full Irish Edition of Critters TV up to a 26 x 11′ package, with international distribution to follow.
Turnip & Duck are excited to embark on a new adventure into Children’s Podcasting with their new show MADDIE & TRIGGS, an audio-led series following the adventures of a 7-year-old girl Maddie who also happens to be visually impaired, and her best friend Triggs, a larger than life dog who’s just full of mischief. Together these two buddies find adventure in the sounds they hear in the everyday, experiencing joy and making music wherever they go. Maddie & Triggs is a 10×10′ radio/podcast series for RTÉjr, and is supported by the BAI. Production begins in early 2021.
Turnip & Duck have two new original IPs in active development. FADÖ FADÖ is a formatted preschool+/bridge show based around the made-up storytelling antics of a Meanderling grandmother and grandson; and FISHCAT & JACK is a 6+ character-based buddy comedy, set inside the world’s loopiest theme park. Both projects are supported by Screen Ireland, and received a very positive response at Virtual CMC and MIPjr during 2020. Turnip & Duck’s strategy is to find the right co-producing partners to bring these two exciting new shows to the next level.2020 has also seen Turnip & Duck writing on several other shows for clients such as SKY KIDS and NICKELODEON as well as developing their very first screenplay with support from Screen Ireland, an adult comedy feature called THE BLOW INS.
Turnip & Duck co-founder and producer Colm Tobin says, “It’s been a crazy year, but for every door that’s closed another has opened, and despite the challenges we’ve actually become energised from a creative perspective. To have created three new shows across different platforms, received a green light on a new series of Critters TV, and be able to continue building relationships with broadcasters worldwide is something we’re extremely proud of. Hopefully 2021 will be just as successful, but perhaps with fewer pandemics”.
