Ballybraddan returns for a second season, ten years after series one aired. Created by Geronimo Productions, Treehouse Republic optioned the title and continued the story from season 01, setting it one year after Ballybraddan failed to win the championship. Series two, airing on Sunday 12th May 18:00 on RTEJr, was funded by Treehouse Republic, Screen Ireland, The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, RTE and Section 481 Film Relief from Revenue.
Consisting of 20 x 11 minute animated episodes, Ballybraddan season 02 focuses on a group of children in a rural Irish town who overcome on- and off-field obstacles aiming to make their way through the school hurling championship and reach the big final in Croke Park on St. Patrick’s Day.
Graham Holbrook made his TV series directorial debut on Ballybraddan, and it was produced by Dale Robinson and Ronan McCabe for Treehouse Republic under licence from Geronimo Productions. The series is co-written by the creators Noel McGee and Nora King.
Treehouse Republic is also in development on “I’ve got a Time Traveling Monkey on my Back” with support from Screen Ireland and Creative Europe Media and in early development with writers Turnip & Duck (Brain Freeze) on a new preschool series focusing on chemistry.
