This year Daily Madness were delighted to participate in RTÉ’s seasonal short film slate “A Breath of Fresh Scare” with our short film “The Ghost Dog”. This original two minute short film about the process of grief and the importance of the bonds we make with our loved ones was developed by designer Jaime Posadas while working remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic. The film follows the story of Lizzie, a little girl grieving the loss of her pet dog, only to discover that it won’t take long for him to come back from the dead to be with her… and grab some snacks along the way.
“The Ghost Dog” is Daily Madness’s second original short film. Adam Kavanagh served as Art Director, Shannon George wrote the screenplay and an original score was composed by Jonathan Casey. This short also allowed us the opportunity to continue our successful ‘first credit initiative’, Jaime Posadas who developed the story was able to take on his first directorial role, while Fionn Boland stepped into his first Production Management position.
The Film premiered on RTÉ on the 25th of October 2021 and will be coming to animation film festivals in the coming weeks and months.
Season 2 of Critters TV
In 2021 Turnip and Duck reunited with animation studio Daily Madness and RTÉ for a second season of the mixed-media nature documentary series “Critters TV”.
Featuring eleven brand new, 11-minute episodes, the sketch comedy series features five animated animal families as they tune into their favourite Live-Action nature documentaries (Critters TV). We see these critters in their natural and not so natural habitats as we get to learn real life facts about animals in our world, and learn more about our fictitious adorable critters families.
The series is directed by Aidan O’Donovan and written by O’Donovan and Colm Tobin, art directed by Adam Kavanagh, and stars the voice talents of Barry McGovern, Lucy O’Connell and Maura Foley.
New episodes premiere on RTÉ from October 25th and will be available via the RTÉ Player.
