Giant Animation Studios reflect on a productive 2021

We had a very busy and productive 2021 here at Giant.

After settling into our new studio space we were delighted to finally unveil our brand new website and logo which has been something in the works for a long time.

We then had the amazing opportunity to provide production services on Ninja Express, a brand new show from Creative Conspiracy in Belgium. This was a huge joy for us to work on and to be a part of such a kick-ass, exciting and hilarious project.

Later in the year, we produced a short film called Samhain, as part of RTÉ Jr’s A Breath of Fresh Scare series, directed by Mark Aristizabal. Using a charming paper puppet style, Samhain explores the Celtic myths behind our modern Halloween traditions, narrated by a shadowy puppet master.

In other news, Zog and the Flying Doctors, a film we worked on with Magic Light Pictures, has also been having a very successful run across the festival circuit throughout 2021, gaining nominations at prestigious events such as the Banff Rockie Awards, Annecy Animation Festival, Kidscreen Awards, CineKid and The IFTAs and most recently winning The Children’s Jury Prize at the Chicago Film Festival.

Finally, our team has also been furiously working behind-the-scenes on a bunch of exciting new Visual Development projects. We have a lot of great things on the horizon which we can’t wait to get stuck into as a studio, some of which we hope to be able to reveal in the coming months.

For now, we look forward to the New Year and all it’s creative & business opportunities and wish you all a Happy Christmas from Team Giant!
