Animation Dingle start the search for the ‘Young Animator Of The Year’

YAOTYAnimation Dingle are delighted to announce their sponsorship with Disney Channels UK & Ireland.

With Disney Channels UK & Ireland, Animation Dingle has started the search for the ‘Young Animator Of The Year’.

Secondary school students are invited, from all over Ireland, to submit their short animations for entry to the national YAOTY awards.

A Disney Channels executive will present the overall winning student with their award, at a premiere screening of their winning film, during the 5th Animation Dingle event in March 2017. The winning student will also be offered a placement in JAM Media’s studios in either Dublin or Belfast, and receive an award designed by renowned Dingle jeweller, Brian de Staic.

David Levine, Vice President, Programming, Production and Strategic Development, Disney Channels Europe, Middle East and Africa, & General Manager, Disney Channels UK & Ireland comments: “Disney Channels have a heritage of hit animated series and we are proud to be supporting young Irish animators through this award. The Animation Dingle Festival is an incubator for the industry and we look forward to seeing the entries from this rich pool of talent”.

The Competition is open to 4th, 5th and 6th year students. Students are to produce an animated film no longer than 1 minute, the theme being ‘The Illusion of Life’.

“We’re delighted to have Disney Channels on board to support this wonderful competition. ‘YAOTY’ aims to celebrate the animators of tomorrow, and we look forward to having the winner experience working in JAM,” JAM Media CEO, John Rice.

The animation can be in any style; hand drawn, cut out animation, computer generated, claymation or stop motion.

Listed as ‘One of the top Not-To-Missed events in the World’ by Animation Magazine, Animation Dingle is attended by all the major animation colleges and studios within Ireland, along with delegates from Disney, Amazon, RTÉ, CBBC, CBeebies and many more.

Exciting plans are underway for 2017!

Entry is FREE. The closing date for student entries is Friday, the 3rd of February 2017.
